Opie Manufacturing Group's purchase of Wilson & Gilkes unleashes Innovation

New aquisitiosn

Opie Manufacturing Group has recently made a significant investment in the acquisition of Wilson & Gilkes, a prominent provider of security enclosures and fabricated metal components. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening Opie Manufacturing Group’s position in the Australian fabrication and contract manufacturing industry. The merger brings together two industry leaders with a shared commitment to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service. With over 75 years of experience, Wilson & Gilkes brings extensive expertise in manufacturing security enclosures and innovative design solutions through collaboration with business partners.

The acquisition is expected to enable Opie Manufacturing Group to offer an even broader range of steel products and services, including sheet metal fabrication, production design prototyping, and engineering services for various industries such as Architecture, OEM, Government, and infrastructure projects. The company’s CEO, Tristan Opie, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, emphasizing the expansion of product offerings and the enhancement of the company’s ability to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

The acquisition also aligns with Opie Manufacturing Group’s commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing and adherence to certification and standards. It is anticipated that the acquisition will support Australian manufacturing, contribute to the growth of local skills and supply chains, and satisfy the demand for precision with its state-of-the-art plant, programming, and production. As a result of this acquisition, Opie Manufacturing Group is increasing its employee headcount from 55 to 100, demonstrating its commitment to investing in cutting-edge technology and talent.

Following the acquisition, Wilson & Gilkes will transition to operate under the Opie Manufacturing Group brand, further solidifying the latter’s reputation as a leading provider of steel products in Australia. The purchase includes several brands, such as “Boscotek,” “Bosco,” “Argent,” “Lectrum®,” and “Gilkon,” thereby expanding Opie Manufacturing Group’s product offerings.

Opie Manufacturing Group is also expanding its manufacturing plant and relocating the Wilson & Gilkes headquarters to Emu Plains, New South Wales, as part of its commitment to growth and providing enhanced services to its customers. The closure of the Moorebank facility is a necessary step in this acquisition, allowing for streamlined operations and improved efficiency. In summary, the acquisition of Wilson & Gilkes by Opie Manufacturing Group represents a significant strategic move that is expected to enhance the capabilities and industry standing of the latter in the Australian fabrication and contract manufacturing sector.

The merger brings together two companies with a shared commitment to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service, and it is anticipated to result in an expanded range of steel products and services for various industries. The acquisition also reflects Opie Manufacturing Group’s commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing, certification, standards, and support for Australian manufacturing and local skills and supply chains.

Bosco Storage Solutions product will have even higher standard Australian made excellence due to the expanded capacity of OPIE Manufacturing Group  8000m2 manufacturing facility in emu plains.
